Effect of Different Photosynthetic Photon Flux on Flowering during Summer Alternate Temperature Culture of Doritaenopsis ¢¥ Haapy Valentine ¢¥ Propagated by Leaf Segment and Asymbiotic Seed Culture

Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the effect of photosynthetic photon fluxs (PPFs) on flowering during summer alternate temperature of Doritaenopsis ¢¥Happy Valentine¢¥ propagated by leaf segment and asymbiotic seed culture. In case of flower induction by low temperature at 23/18¡É (D/N), higher axillary bud development and flowering rate were observed at higher PPFs up to 180 ¥ì§ß¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1) in clones than seedlings. Days to flowering were also shortened. Number of flowers and inflorescences were increased with increasing PPFs, but inflorescence length was not affected by increased PPFs. In conclusion, proper PPFs for the flower induction were 1801 10 ¥ì§ß¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1). Clonally propagated Doritaenopsis exhibited higher temperature sensitivity in flower induction, higher flower quality, and uniformity as compared to seedlings.
